About Reiki

Reiki, (pronounced Ray-Key) is a method of natural healing based on the application of Universal Life Force Energy which when channeled, most often through the hands and into a person who is receiving, returns the mind, emotions and body to a state of alignment with the Higher Self or true way of being.
Universal Life force Energy--this is the energy that animates all life; it surrounds us, composes us, and ultimately heals us. Imbalance or dis-ease occurs when we experience a block in the flow of this energy as it moves through the energetic pathways of our beings.
Healing with Light, using Reiki and other paths to connecting with this Life force Energy, we can facilitate a shifting and clearing of these blocks, allowing energy to move freely, and enabling us to heal ourselves.
There is no belief system attached to Reiki, simply a willingness to heal oneself.
How it's Done
In its simplest form, using Reiki is simply the practitioner placing their hands on the recipient with the intent of bringing healing and willing for Reiki energy to flow.
There is a set of hand positions traditionally taught which I use as a guide for my sessions. It is not necessary to follow those positions, they are merely taught as a starting position from which the practitioner can learn. I find them useful as they are designed to treat each area of the body, but if there is a specific area of concern that I sense, I will keep my hands right there for as long as it feels necessary and right.
Reiki is generally performed fully clothed. Lying down is recommended as Reiki is so relaxing that often a person will fall asleep, or will be in a state close to sleep. It is often during this sleep state that the greatest healing work by the body is accomplished.
Distance Healings
To the world of spirit there is no such thing as time or space. Since there is no time and space to limit spirit, Reiki can operate without regard to limitations of space. Reiki energy can be sent regardless of physical distance or of time. Energy can be sent to the past to heal old wounds or even into the future.
